(via WTHR) – The Red Cross is in desperate need for blood donations.
Now, famous IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe is offering a sweet incentive for anyone who wants to help.
On Monday, he’ll be offering free access passes to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s driver garage to the first 100 people who stop by his blood drive.
That’s at Legends Row at IMS starting at noon on Monday.
“What happened to me was a real eye opener,” said Hinchcliffe. “I understand now how blood can be needed in a moment’s notice and how much can be used to help just one person. I’m partnering with Red Cross to encourage more people to give blood so that patients can have another shot at life, just like I did.”
Severe injuries, like those that happened to Hinchcliffe, are a reminder of how fragile the blood supply can be. “We can’t predict when a major accident might happen,” said Cameron Branock, donor recruitment manager for the Red Cross. “We need to be ready to respond to emergencies at any time and it’s the blood already on the shelves that helps save lives in an emergency.”
You will need a gate ticket that will be emailed to you after seeing up a donation appointment. Donors of all types are needed.
